Overview

What is it?

Disability Living Allowance can be paid for children under the age of 16 if they meet the qualifying criteria. It is not means-tested.

It is made up of two components - care and mobility - and the child can qualify for one or both of these.

How do I get it?

For more information about this you can contact a local advice service.

You can get an application form from your local Social Security Office or by ringing 028 9090 6182.

The application form is very long and asks for a lot of information. You should get a friend, relative or adviser to help you complete it if possible. Many advice agencies can make an appointment for you to visit them to do this.
